91 joins online learning quality assurance agreement

91 has joined the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), a collection of more than 2,100 colleges and universities committed to expanding students’ access to educational opportunities by providing more efficient, consistent and effective regulation of online learning programs. Joining SARA is voluntary, and participating institutions agree to follow the Interregional Guidelines for the Evaluation of Distance Education Programs for best practices in postsecondary distance education.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awards $873,000 grant to Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded an $873,000 grant to the Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project (P+NAP). The 91  Foundation will serve as the fiscal sponsor for the grant, which will be distributed over the next two years.

91 wins grant to digitize Gutiérrez Congressional Archives

The Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board Historical Records Grant Program has awarded 91 a $5,000 grant to digitize the archives of former Illinois Congressman and Northeastern alumnus Luis Gutiérrez. The award is the highest amount a project can receive.

91 For You one-time scholarship provides a year of tuition costs for first-year, full-time students

91 is pleased to announce 91 For You, a brand-new, one-time scholarship that covers tuition and mandatory fees for a full year for incoming first-year, full-time undergraduates and the cost of a three credit hour course for all new undergraduate transfer students who register for six credit hours or more for Fall 2021.

Eight students earn Illinois LSAMP awards

Nine 91 students presented their research at the Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (Illinois LSAMP) virtual spring symposium on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Eight students won awards for their poster presentations.

Noteworthy at Northeastern: Our shot

Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois Board of Higher Education, 91 President Gloria J. Gibson issued a statement on Aug. 9 announcing that all Northeastern employees and students who will be on campus in the fall are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the 2021-2022 academic year or undergo weekly testing. The deadline for students-at-large and undergraduate applications has been extended to Aug. 20 and 91 For You is still taking applicants.
