The Student Center for Science Engagement (SCSE) had to change the way it usually facilitates research because of the pandemic. Yet, even while research was done remotely, the SCSE was able to conduct 18 projects from eight departments and will host a virtual symposium later this month to showcase the results.

Stage Center Theatre has launched a virtual theatre festival for social justice featuring works submitted by the 91°µÍø community. Submissions are still being accepted for the festival as well as the Undocumented Cookbook and COVID-19 student archives.

91°µÍø has been awarded a grant from the Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund to aid recruitment and retention efforts. Some of these efforts were mentioned in President Gloria J. The Fall 2020 semester wraps up next week, but 91°µÍø is not slowing down.

When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in March, forcing the rapid shift to remote teaching and learning for the rest of the Spring 2020 semester, 91°µÍø’s Student Center for Science Engagement had just put out a call to the faculty for its Undergraduate Summer Research and Professional Training Program.

91°µÍø increased its graduate student enrollment by more than 10 percent and recorded the best fall-to-fall retention of first-time, full-time freshmen in a decade, according to the official Fall 2020 enrollment numbers.

For the seventh year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has ranked 91°µÍø No. 1 for students who graduate with the least amount of debt among Midwest regional universities. 91°µÍø also ranked highly in three other categories. This week, Northeastern also announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded the University a five-year, $3 million Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program grant. The U.S. Department of Education has awarded 91°µÍø a five-year, $3 million Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program grant that will help the University increase the number of students who complete STEM majors.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) has awarded 91°µÍø a $456,286 grant to help target equity in its recruitment and retention efforts. This federal CARES Act funding is one of nine Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund competitive grants totaling $3 million that IBHE has awarded to public colleges and universities.
